Purpose: Strategically interpret and develop products for commercialization and engineering to meet design vision, merchant requirements and company financial goals. Manage product integrity across assigned departments, ensuring the fit, construction and quality meet customer expectations, brand positioning, and align with Design and Merchandising objectives. Job Responsibilities

  • Meet calendar deadlines for on-time delivery of product
  • Recommend materials and construction techniques to meet or exceed IMU goals set by Merchandising
  • Use the PLM system to manage technical specs for assigned departments, ensuring accuracy from Design hand-off to Production
  • Collaborate closely with Design team to ensure design integrity throughout development process
  • Oversee the ordering and tracking of development samples, ensuring on-time delivery to meet calendar deadlines and key presentation meetings. Evaluate sample execution with Design and communicate performance with Suppliers.
  • Communicate specifications and product details promptly with Sourcing partners and Suppliers for item costing.
  • Oversee and manage the fitting process of samples from 1st Proto through final production approval
  • Lead fit sessions and manage the process of advising and correcting specification packages to align with the design aesthetic and company financial goals while ensuring the appropriate fit for the EB customer.
  • Communicate daily with cross functional teams and Suppliers regarding all issues pertinent to accurate execution of samples throughout development process
  • Track sample approvals for final bulk approval
  • Ensure fit consistency by enforcing adherence to fit standards and block patterns.
  • Based on assigned categories, may be responsible for management of material and yarn development.
  • Identify and resolve production, quality, and cost issues proactively with cross-functional partners before production starts.
  • Manage communication with Suppliers related to sample development and fit approval.
  • Oversee commercialization timelines, ensuring deadlines are met from development through production.
  • Follow individual buyer manuals while maintaining Eddie Bauer standards.
  • Provide feedback to the Sourcing team on Vendor performance to improve sample and fit execution.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to support the development and training of best practices for the Technical Design department.
  • Assist the Manager and cross-functional team members as needed to support the department's workload.
  • Stay current with market trends, especially in fit and styling, to enhance knowledge and improve product fit, quality, and salability.
  • Regularly read customer reviews to address any necessary product improvements or corrections.
  • Perform such other duties as directed by the supervisor

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or Technical Degree with an apparel focus preferred, or 5+ years of Technical Designer experience in lieu of degree
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in garment manufacturing Technical Design and specification development.
  • Experience in Wholesale business models is a plus
  • Experience in Men’s apparel fit is preferred
  • Advanced computer skills in Excel and Word are highly desired. Experience with PLM systems and 3D design systems is a plus.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and good judgement.
  • Must be proactive, adaptable, and capable of meeting tight deadlines and solving problems as they arise
  • Must have exceptional organizational skills and ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic and diverse, multicultural work environment
  • Limited travel may be required, based on business needs.
  • Adhere to regular in-office presence, including engaging in in-person team interaction, meetings and collaboration. Job duties may be performed effectively using the hybrid work program designated by the company.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor as the company retains the right to change duties to this position.
  • Must have authorization to work in the United States.

Requirements & EEO Statement

The salary range for this position is $78,000 - $85,000. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to position offered and work experience. In addition to your salary, SPARC Group, and its affiliated brands, offers a benefits package, including 401(k) plan with company match after 500 hours if age 21 or older, overtime pay, flexible work schedule, paid sick leave, and a generous employee discount program (all benefits are based on eligibility).
